Authorities Need to Protect Journalists From Threats

Between 2010 and 2011 Olivera Lakic, Zeljk Ivanovic and other journalists at Vijesti received threats. In this letter to the Montenegro authorities we urge them to take immediate actions, and to ensure that the attacks and threats against Olivera Lakic and other journalists at Vijesti are properly investigated.

In February 2011 Olivera Lakic reported on illegal labelling of tobacco products in the city of Mojkovac, after that both she and her family received threats. On 24 September 2010 Zeljk Ivanovic and other journalists at Vijesti received death threats by mail.

In this letter to the Montenegro authorities we urge them to take immediate actions, and to ensure that the attacks and threats against Olivera Lakic and other journalists at Vijesti are properly investigated.
