Improved Standards with Training and Strategic Litigation
Together with Macedonian Young Lawyers Association, Civil Rights Defenders work to improve anti-discrimination policies, practices and standards in the judicial system in Macedonia. This is conducted through strategic litigation and by educating young lawyers.
In 2010 Macedonia passed the long expected law on prevention and protection against discrimination. However, to this date there is not a single decision reached by the domestic courts related to discrimination.
We also raise the awareness of the population regarding discrimination, by disseminating informative booklets, broadcasting TV and radio commercials in the media, and providing free legal aid and representation before the domestic courts.
