Safe Space for Investigative Journalism
Civil Rights Defenders believe that strengthening investigative journalism in Kosovo will contribute to greater respect for human rights in general and to freedom of expression in particular. The collaboration with Kosovo Center for Investigative Journalism (KCIJ) aims to develop, improve and support investigative journalism in Kosovo.
We are building an investigative center of journalism, developing a special online magazine and publishing a monthly supplement in Kosovo’s biggest daily newspaper.
KCIJ was established in 2010 as an entity within The Organization for Democracy, Anticorruption and Dignity (ÇOHU!). Through monitoring, reporting and continuous appearances in the media, COHU has achieved publicity around corruption and initiated public debates about the responsibilities of duty holders.
Media in general are afraid to report on these sensitive issues. Through this initiative we hope to create a safe space for journalists to do their job.
