Civil and political rights are severely repressed throughout the region. Human rights defenders are subjected to arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, discrimination, and other human rights violations. 

In the Middle East and North Africa, we monitor and report on the human rights situation together with human rights defenders. We support regional networks, initiatives and projects working on three thematic pillars: justice and rule of law, discrimination, and freedom of expression.
