Civil Rights Defenders seek two National Legal Experts on Albania and Serbia to develop two critical policy documents on for EU Law Policy Documents. Please read the full Terms of Reference below.

Call for Applications: National Legal Experts for EU Law Policy Documents

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for experienced legal professionals to collaborate on an impactful project with Civil Rights Defenders, in Albania and Serbia. We seek two National Legal Experts per country to develop two critical policy documents:

  1. Guidelines for litigation before the CJEU for new EU member states;
  2. Challenges for new member states in applying the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU.

Key Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in Law (Master’s degree or higher, such as an LL.M. or Ph.D., preferred), with specialization in human rights, constitutional, or international law;
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional legal experience, including at least 5 years in international or EU law;
  • Proven knowledge of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the CJEU practice;
  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  1. A detailed CV highlighting your relevant experience;
  2. A motivation letter explaining your suitability for this role.
  3. Scanned copies of relevant certifications or degrees.

Deadline:

  • Applications must be submitted by January 20, 2025.
  • Selected experts will complete their assignments between January and April 2025, with remuneration of €1,500 gross amount per expert upon deliverable approval.

This initiative is part of the project “Strengthening Regional Judicial Cooperation in the Western Balkans for Effective Litigation before the CJEU and Implementation of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights” implemented by  Center for Legal Research and Analysis (North Macedonia), Civil Rights Defenders (Serbia), Civic Alliance (Montenegro), Civil Rights Defenders (Albania) and  funded by the Dutch Embassy in North Macedonia.
