Cuban Human Rights Defender Lia Villares Detained
Former Defenders’ Days participant and Cuban human rights defender Lia Villares was detained Wednesday afternoon together with actress Iris Ruiz, and their location is still unknown.
The security police detained them just before the start of the play Psicosis by Sara Keane, at the independent cultural festival Poesía sin Fin, in Havana. Ruiz is the protagonist of the play, and Villares one of the organisers of the festival. Civil Rights Defenders demands their immediate release and that the festival can be organised as planned.
