Human Rights Defenders Threatened for Helping Victim of Domestic Violence

In a letter to Albanian Minister of Justice Bujar Nishani, Minister of Interior Affairs Lulzim Basha, and Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Spiro Ksera we express our deep concern regarding the threats against human rights defenders connected to the work of a women’s shelter in Vlora. The threats and intimidations have resulted in three persons leaving their job.

We urge the Ministers to use all mechanisms available to adequately protect the victim of domestic violence and the human rights defenders in this case, as well as other human rights defenders in the country. Read the letter here.
