17th Regional Moot Court Competition will take place in Podgorica, Montenegro

This year the annual Regional Moot Court Competition organised by Civil Rights Defenders will take place in Podgorica, Montenegro, during 12 – 15 May. The competition, which has been held since 2006, aims to enhance the implementation of European human rights standards by familiarising law students, together with judges from the Western Balkans, with cases and procedures of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

Participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia will take part in the competition. The event provides an excellent opportunity for participants to improve their capacity to deal with human rights issues and to network with fellow participants and legal experts.

The Moot Court Competition is an essential project for Civil Rights Defenders, which has been working to promote and protect human rights in the Western Balkans and beyond. By engaging law students and judges in this project, Civil Rights Defenders is helping to create a new generation of human rights defenders who are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to promote and protect human rights in their communities.

This year’s competition promises to be an exciting and informative event, and participants can look forward to learning from experienced legal experts and engaging in stimulating debates on human rights issues. Civil Rights Defenders is proud to continue organising this vital project and remains committed to promoting and protecting human rights in Europe and beyond.
