The EU Must Speak Out Against Repression of Freedom of Assembly in Cuba

In a letter to Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy dated the 9 June 2015, Civil Rights Defenders and our partner The Forum for Rights and Freedoms urgently call on the EU and its member states to act immediately against the dangers currently faced by Cuban human rights defenders when exercising their basic freedoms. 

Beatings, physical abuse and various types of torture have become an every day reality. The number of arbitrary detentions in May 2015 was the highest since July of last year.
